population A biological unit representing the individuals of a species living in a particular area; a group of individuals with common ancestry that are much more likely to breed with one another than with individuals from another such group. Usually populations have little demographic or genetic exchange with other such populations. 　
族群 一個生物學的單位，代表生活於一個特別的區域內種的個體；一群個體有共同的祖先，如此會比來自另外的族群的個體更適合去繁殖。通常一個族群與另一族群在人口統計學上或遺傳上僅有少量的的交換。
