principle of priority According to the Code, the principle that the valid name of a taxon is the oldest available name applied to it, provided that the name is not invalidated by a provision of the Code or by any ruling by the Commission.　
優先權原則 根據命名規約，此原則是指一個分類單元的有效名稱，是應用於該分類單元的最早的一個適用名稱，唯該名稱須未因本規約的其他規定或委員會的任何裁決而失效。
