oval In ichthyology, a portion of the gas bladder, rich in capillaries, for the absorption of gases. Circular muscles surround the organ and in contraction shut the oval off from the bladder; longitudinal muscles contract to re-expose it.　
橢圓體 魚類學用詞，氣鰾的部分，有豐富的微血管可吸收氣體。包圍器官的圓形肌肉可利用收縮而關上來自氣鰾的橢圓體，縱向的肌肉收縮後而再度露出。
