family According to the Code, a group of phylogenetically related genera or a single genus forming a taxonomic category ranking between the order and the genus; one of the categories in animal and plant classification; may contain one or more closely related genera; a rank within the family group between superfamily and subfamily; a taxon at the rank of a family; in scientific classifications, an assemblage of genera possessing certain characters in common by which they are distinguished; subordinate to phylum, class and order and superordinate to genus and species. 科 根據命名法規，一群系統發育相關的屬或一個屬形成的分類位階介於一個目和屬之間；動物與植物的分類位階之一；可能包含一個或多個關係接近的屬；在總科與亞科之間的位階；在一個科內的一個分類單元；在科學的分類，在一些屬被區別所依據的共同特定特徵，則這個屬的集合稱之；低於門，綱與目，而高於屬與種。
