| 形態特徵 | 體型類似巨齒天竺鯛屬(Cheilodipterus)的魚，區別在於第一背鰭具有7根棘(相對於巨齒天竺鯛屬的6根) ；上下頜皆具銳利的犬齒。身體於側線下中央的部位具有一條深褐色的縱向斑紋，死後不顯著，尾鰭基底另具一條暗褐色橫帶。Coranthus polyacanthus為同種異名。 |

| 棲所生態 | 主要棲息於礁體斜坡，深度可達150公尺。單獨生活、配對或成一小群生活。以小魚、甲殼類等為食。 |
