Characteristic Dorsal fin with XII spines and 10 soft rays; anal fin with III spines and 5 soft rays. Body reddish; scattered with irregular pale blotches and some black dots; a large black patch at the posterior part of dorsal fin from 7th to 10th spines. Mouth oblique; upper jaw reaching below posterior margin of eye.
habitats Inhabit demersal marine enviornment, nocturnal, feed on small fish and crustacean during night. Other ecological behaviour is unclear yet. 
Distribution Northwest Pacific: Taiwan, Japan and South Korea. 
Utility Not commercial food species, edible.
