Characteristic Dorsal-fin rays 88; anal-fin rays 65; pectoral-fin rays 12. With cycloid scales on left side except along dorsal and anal fin bases; dorsal fin extending to hind half of snout; gill rakers 9-10 on lower limb of first gill arch; depth 1.9-2.1 in body length; first interhaemal spine slightly projecting. Soft ray count of pectoral fin refers to that on ocular side.
habitats Inhabits shallow waters on mud and sand bottoms. Feeds on small bottom-living animals. 
Distribution Western Pacific: Kochi Prefecture, Japan to the South China Sea. Taiwan: South, West.
