Characteristic Dorsal fin with VI spines and 15 soft rays; anal fin with 16-18 soft rays; pectoral fin with 12-13 + 3-4 soft rays; gill rakers 10-14. Snout as long as eye diameter in young, slightly longer than the diameter in adout. Interorbital space very narrow, the width contained 4 to 5 times in the eye diameter. Each lateral scute with 2 strong spines directed backwards. Fourth to 8th dorsal rays prolonged into filaments in adult males.
habitats Inhabit demersal marine environment, other ecological behavior is not clear yet. 
Distribution Northwest Pacific: southern Japan, Taiwan to the East China Sea.
