telolecithal eggs In contrast to most invertebrates (holoblastic cleavage, yolk incorporated into the dividing cells), teleosts have telolecithal eggs, with the yolk mass separate from the developing embryo. This type of egg undergoes meroblastic or discoidal cleavage, where yolk is not incorporated in the cells during cell division.
