monogamy A reproductive system in which each member of a heterosexual pair spawns only with the other member of that pair. "Permanent" monogamy indicates pairing is life-long; "temporary" monogamy indicates pairing for long terms, but less than life-long. The latter grades into sequential polygamy. 　
一夫一妻制 一個生殖系統，每個成員只與另一個異性成員產卵配對。永久的一夫一妻制指成對是整個生活史的；暫時的一夫一妻制指成對長期，但是短於生活史的。後者逐漸變成連續的一夫多妻。
