depensatory Mortality is depensatory when its rate (i.e. the proportion of population affected) increases as the size of the population decreases. Reproduction is less successful at low population densities, e.g. caused by the difficulty in finding mates, and this too is called depensation. Compare compensatory mortality where the mortality rate decreases as the population size decreases. 　
逆補償 當族群密度低到某個程度時，個體交配機率下降， 且仔稚魚的生存率無法提升， 以至於族群面臨絕滅。或稱作阿里效應。
