tetrodotoxin The poison found in tetrodotoxic fishes; also called spheroidine, fugu toxin, or puffer poison. The empirical molecular formula is approximately C11 H17 O8 YH20. It is among the most toxic substances known among the non-proteins. It is a sodium channel blocker, preventing transmission of pain signals and is being examined as a non-addictive pain suppressor, 3000 times more powerful than morphine. 　
河豚毒素 主要發現於某些河豚種類的卵巢和肝臟。分子式大約是 C11 H17 O8 YH20。是以之毒性最強的非蛋白質物質。為一鈉通道阻礙物，可作為強力的止痛劑，效力約為嗎啡的3000 倍。
