名詞 定義　
monotelic Capable of reproducing during only a single, usually brief, phase of the entire life cycle; contrasts with polytelic, the ability to come into reproductive condition more than once, as in successive years. Lampreys and Pacific species of salmon are monotelic; most fishes are polytelic.　
單期生殖 指只能在生命週期內某一個階段繁殖，且通常為期很短；相對於多期生殖，生殖狀態不止出現一次，連續數年皆可。七鰓鰻與太平洋種鮭魚是單期生殖；大多數的魚是多期生殖。
