Characteristic HL 6.8-9.1, DGO 13-15.2, TR 2.8-3.1 in TL. Body smaller, uniformly yellowish when fresh. Body turns white-brownish quickly in formalin or alcohol. Vertical blackish band coneved iris. Blackish gill openings. Lower part of head, abdomen and fin are all paler in alcohol.
habitats Lives in holes and crevices of seaward reefs or intertidal pool. 
Distribution Indo-Pacific: East Africa, north to Japan, Taiwan, the Hawaiian Islands, south to the Australs; throughout Micronesia.
