Characteristic Dorsal-fin rays VII-I, 9; anal-fin rays II, 8; pectoral-fin rays 13-14. Body without any stripe; no canine-like teeth; preopercular ridge smooth; gill-rakers fewer than 21; no mark on cheek; peduncular spot absent; caudal fin forked.
habitats Nocturnal species. Occurs inshore; usually in silty habitat on mud slopes and in lagoons. 
Distribution Indo-West Pacific: India to Indochina and Malay Archipelago to northern Australia. 
Utility No commercial value.
