Characteristic	Body elongate, depressed. Head extremely depressed. Preopercular spine very long with 2-4 processes on inner side. Infraorbital canal without short vertral branch. In males, 1st dorsal fin large and high, all spines elongate and filamentous; 2nd dorsal fin almost without dark spots in females.
habitats	Found on sandy mud bottoms.
Distribution	Distributed in Japan, the East China Sea and Taiwan. Reported from New Caledonia. It is found in northeastern Taiwanese waters.
Utility	No commercial value.
