habitats	Found in small groups along upper edges of sheltered drop-offs. Also found in rocky inshore reefs with moderate to strong wave action, shallower than 12 m depth.
Distribution	Distributed in the Indo-West Pacific from East Africa south to Transkei, South Africa and eastward to New Britain, north to southern Japan; Palau in Micronesia. It is a common species in Taiwan except weastern part.
