Characteristic Dorsal fin continuing, XIII, 10-11, fonth spine longer than others obviously; anal rays III, 6-8. Gill rakers 10-13 on upper limb, 24-27 on lower limb. Body cover with small ctenoid scales; lateral-line scales 37-38. Body elongated and deep; body depth 2.4-2.6 times in standard length.Body reddish yellow, each side scales with one white dot; nasal to pectoral fin base with a yellow band.
habitats Inhabit deeper rocky reef(50-100m), pelagic, ecological behavior is unclear. 
Distribution Western Pacific: north to southern Japan and Taiwan. 
Utility small grouper, not commercial species, edible.
