Characteristic Dorsal-fin rays 106-118; anal-fin rays 85-95; caudal-fin rays 7-8. Caudal vertebrae 41-44; mid-lateral line scales 88-110. Lips on eyed side of head distinctly fringed with labial papillae. Three lateral lines on ocular side. With ctenoid scales on left side and cycloid on right side.
habitats Occurs near shore on sandy mud bottoms. Feeds on bottom-living animals.
