Characteristic Dorsal fin with I-VII-VIII spines and 11 soft rays; anal fin with 11 soft rays; pectoral fin with 19-21 soft rays; lateral line scales 51-55; gill rakers 1+7-9. Preopercular spine 3. Body with gray color, side of head and anterior body with black spots. Dorsal spin with black blotches; pectoral fin with scattered black spots; pelvic fin with black color.
habitats Inhabit demersal marine environment, found in semi-enclosed sea areas, down to 100 m in sandy mud bottom. Attains 16.4 cm SL.  
Distribution Northwest Pacific: southern Japan and East China Sea to Taiwan.  
Utility Not commercial food species.
