Characteristic	Dorsal fin with VIII spines and 21-22 soft rays; anal fin with 19-20 soft rays; pectoral fin with 13 soft rays; lateral line scales 37-38; gill rakers 6 + 18. Rostral projection slender, much longer than eye dismeter. No teeth in upper jaw. Many barbels on lower jaw, short, the longest one extending below middle of orbit. Preopercular soine long and sharp.
