Characteristic No scale. Pectoral fin present. Upper jaw longer than lower jaw. Premaxillary teeth 2. Upper jaw teeth small, in 3 rows; lower jaw teeth in 1 row, anterior two large vomerine teeth 5. Premaxillary vomerine teeth compound, Dorsal fin origin in advance of pectoral fin. Vertebrae 128-140. Total length 15.6 of body depth, 7.4 of head length; caudal length 6.7 of the length from head to trunk; head length 5.1 of snout length; snout length 3.3 of diameter of eye. Rictus behind rear of eye. Eye small. Length of anus to gill slit shortor than head length. Body color brown. Dorsal and anal fin white.
habitats Demersal fishes; inhabit in 100 to 400 meters deep, feed on small fishes, crustaceans and other invertebrates. 
Distribution West Indian and West Pacific.
