Characteristic	Dorsal rays XIII, 11-13; Anal rays II, 11-12; pectoral rays 18; lateral-line scales 20-22; body depth 1.7-1.9 in standard length; caudal lobes poined. Body white to light grey with 6 black bands and a black blotch on caudal peduncle.
habitats	Inhabits protected coastal areas often around docks or breakwaters to a depth of 6 m.
Distribution	Distributed in the Western Central Pacific from Philippines and Moluccas to the Solomon Islands, north to Japan; Palau (Belau) in Micronesia. It is found in southern Taiwanese waters and Lanyu, southeastern Taiwan.
