Characteristic Dorsal fin with V spines, and 13-14 soft rays; anal fin with III spines and 8~9 soft rays. Caudal fin forked. Cover with small Ctenoid Scales. Abdomen middle line between Pelvic Fin and Anal fin has 10-15 scutes.Body grey brown, all fins are light.
habitats Inhabit bathypelagic marine environment; depth range 143 - 274 m. Attain maxi size 9.6 cm SL. 
Distribution Indian Ocean: Saya de Malha. Mediterranean Sea: Nazareth Banks. Northwest Pacific: Kyushu-Palau Ridge Known also off Somalia (Moore, pers. comm.).
