Characteristic Dorsal fin with XI spines, dorsal fin single, 1st very small, 2nd or 6th long as silk. Anal fin small, form as dorsal fin, 2nd and 3th same length, anal fin with 8 rays. Pectoral fin long. Caudal fin forked. Body light red and shinning with silver; side several red bands.
habitats Inhabits demersal; brackish marine environment. Inhabits sandy and muddy bottoms. Important food fish. Attains max size 40cm TL. 
Distribution Indo-Pacific: Japan to southeast Asia and eastern Indian Ocean.
